2 weeks down

I have been a bad, double bad blogger lately. The main reason is a case of the I-can't-handle-winter-any-more blahs. I'm not being a very productive human, and I really need to fix that, but I can't begin to express my yearning for Spring. Oh man, I need it.

I have also been undergoing some medical treatments that have zapped my energy levels a little bit. I am notoriously bad at calling/e-mailing so please don't be surprised or feel alone if I didn't tell you about this already. I'm a lame long-distance communicator. In December I had an MRI that showed a tumor (most likely benign) below my brain near my pituitary gland. It's about 4 cm. - so about the size of a bouncy ball, and is in a precarious place so surgery isn't really an option. So, I'm doing 6 weeks of Mon-Fri radiation treatments to stop the growth of the tumor. Sounds scary but they have it down to quite a system and it's going relatively smoothly so far.

My mom is here with us THANK HEAVEN. I can't say enough good about that lady. She's the best. She hangs out here with the kids while I go to my treatments - which is a huge relief and Audrey and Drew haven't really even noticed that I'm leaving the house without them every single day.

And now for the picture. I wear a mask that they snap to the table in order to keep my head immobile while they shoot radiation at it....it's totally scary looking or maybe even a little Nacho Libre-ish. This isn't my mask but looks just like it...freaky, right?
So, that's it. I am feeling fine so far and am feeling SO grateful for the kind people here in Michigan who are taking care of us and all the people all over who are praying for us. I know this 6 weeks is just a blip on the radar screen of my little family's life so I'm trying to look at it as just that. Let's just get it done and get on with life!!
